The curriculums

In Vietnamese schools, English is typically taught as a foreign language, and the curriculum is designed to help students develop proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. To our schools and centers, there are many curriculums applied, here is a general overview of the English language curricula used in our schools:

SYNTHETIC FRAMEWORK PROGRAMME FOR KINDERGARTEN 

  • Duration ( various): 30, 40-45, 1:30 mins

 

Age Content Requirement
2-3, 4-5 years old – Vocabulary: 

  • 5,6 words per lesson ( for 2-3 years old)
  • 8-10 words per lesson ( for 4-5 years old)  
  • Topic: Topic is various, mostly the common topics in daily life such as: body parts, colors, family members, animals,…
  • Specialize words on special occasions: Halloween, Christmas, Tet,..
– When teaching vocabulary:

  • make sure teacher pronounce it correctly
  • Checking pronunciation for each students
– Sentences: 

  • Greeting with simple sentences at the beginning of the class
  • With 2-3 years old class, the students might just study the the single words
  • With 4-5 years old class, besides learning the words, the center will learn the sentences, they will start practicing with short dialogue.
– Teacher spends time for each students to practice the sentences

– Teacher should let students practice in pair or in group to engage more students in a 

 

1, Grapeseed: for kids from 4-12 years old.

Materials: Students will learn the vocabulary through a wide variety of songs, poems, stories, flashcards with great frequency.

Totally have 40 units

Unit 1 – Unit 5 Focus on pronunciation. Students start to get used to words and usage of words in the specific context.
Unit 5 – Unit 9 Focus on pronunciation, vocabulary and communicating through acting in plays, with longer sentences.
Unit 10 – Unit 20 This stage focuses on listening, speaking and reading skills. Besides, students will start writing dictation.
Unit 20 – Unit 30 Develop skills at earlier stages, students start to learn to write single sentences and paragraphs.
Unit 30 – Unit 40 Complete all 4 skills Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.

 

Littleseed: a separate program belonging to Grapeseed, specially designed for kids from  3-4 years old, first exposure to English.

  • Teacher needs to undergo a training program when teaching the GS program.

2, Oxford Phonics

Oxford Phonic 1 Alphabet: Students learn the sound in the alphabet.
Oxford Phonic 2 Short vowels
Oxford Phonic 3 Long vowels
Oxford Phonic 4 Consonant blends
Oxford Phonic 5 Letter combination

3, Kid’s Box

Age Content
Starters Kid’s box 1 6-8  – Vocabulary about character names, numbers, school supplies, shapes, colors, toys, houses, bodies, animals, food, actions.

– Sentences about greetings, names, voice commands, asking about things, quantities, colors, describing using adjectives, prepositions, asking about preferences, location, describing ownership, abilities, interests.

Phonetics of the sounds /s/, /p/, /b/, /t/, /d/, /ae/, /e/, /br/, /gr/, /fr/, /i/, /o/, /l/, /a/, /h/, /ai/

– Sample sentences about greetings, names, voice commands, asking about things, quantities, colors, describing using adjectives, prepositions, asking about preferences, location, describing ownership, abilities, interests liking, describing ongoing actions, desires, frequency, purpose, describing health situation, describing compulsions, suggestions, comparisons.

– Phonetics of the sounds /ay/ /ar/ /oa/ /ou/ /or/s/ /e/ /ee/ /f/ /w/

 

Kid’s box 4 – Vocabulary about character names. occupations, activities, adjectives, adverbs, health, numbers, ordinal numbers, places in the world, technology, animals, food.

– Sentences about greetings, names, relative clauses, adverbs, past tense, compound sentences, superlatives, prepositions of position, phrases of quantity.

– Phonetics of the sounds /a/ /ai/ /ar/ /i/ /ee/ /ie/ /b/ /f/ /v/ /d/ /id/ /t/ /er/ /or/ /oo/

Flyers Kid’s box 5 10-11 – Vocabulary about subjects, school, time, TV shows, adjectives, occupations, urban life, directions, nature, verbs, materials, senses, cooking, sports sports, seasons of the year.

– Sentences about hobbies, present simple and perfect, asking about time, about the future, about directions, prepositions of place, past, describing materials, feelings, giving advice.

– Phonetics of the sounds /j/ /ch/ /yoo/ /er/ /s/ /sh/ /z/

Kid’s box 6 – Vocabulary about technology, school activities, art, literature, transportation, space, nature, exploration, food, ocean, activities, clothing, nationalities.

– Sentences about present, future, past, compound sentences, describing location, countable and uncountable nouns, quantity, ability.

– Phonetics about the sounds /th/ /k/ /g/ /u/, stress and intonation

 

FOR PUBLIC SECONDARY SCHOOL

  • Project (4th Edition)
